Description
Olive oil has been well known since Antiquity. The Olive tree, according
to the myth, was given to the Greeks by the goddess Pallas Athena herself.
In Greece, Italy and Spain, cold-pressed olive oil is called
"liquid gold" because it is the basis of the Mediterranean diet, as
well as most skin care products for the face and body.
Its main components are triglycerides of the essential omega-9
oleic and omega-6 linoleic acids, which together make up more than 90%.
Modern studies of the composition of cold-pressed olive oil
It has been shown that biologically active polyphenols present in it give
the oil a characteristic taste and aroma and are responsible for its beneficial properties for
the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract and antioxidant activity.
