Description
Dumplings were originally a boiled dish of unleavened dough with meat filling in the form of an intricately folded dumpling. The homeland of dumplings is China, the dish got to Russia through the Urals and Siberia, where it is still considered a traditional food. The shape of the dumplings resembles an ear, the Finno-Ugric word "pelnyan" – bread ear is often tied to this. In fact, dumplings are different in shape – round, hexagonal, square with carved edges – the cuisines of different peoples have their own secret of cooking
